Capturing Life’s Moments
nature through macro
These photos have a theme that i'm calling “nature through macro” I decide that you may see subjects like this in your everyday life but you've probably never really looked up close to a pine needle and seen how many little features it has. So i decide that i would try and find different types of natural elmets with a unique formation and show them from an up close perspective.
This image shows a specific type of pine tree with snow packed on it. Its cool how the macro lens can really get up close and show you the detail of pine needle. Technical challenges of this photo include finding a pine needle that is still complete with all its needles and also one with snow attached to it. The strongest part of this image is the is the detail of the needle if you look closely you can see little white dotted line going up the side of the pine needle. The weakest part of the the the snow still being somewhat in a consistent pattern it would be better if it filled all the way across the branch.
This photo i took to show an up close view on granite. To add to the theme of nature through macro. Granite has a lot of little grains to it and different colours. Like pinks and blacks. It also occasionally has like a clear crystal to it. Some technical challenges that i had were getting all the granite into focus because it has so many little grains to it there already kinda noisy as is. Trying to get them to look sharp was difficult.during the editing process i added colour to the gratie to make the pinks in the rock pop and all helped make the blacks stand out more. You can also see where there is moss growing on the rock. I also made the brightness a little higher so the crystal looking parts shined.the strongest part of this image is the different features in the granite like the different colours and the crystal looking piece in the middle of the photo.th weakest part of this image is the focus because the centre is infocus but the inside edges of the photo are not. I like how it faded out of focus but i think it does it to gradually.
This photo shows an up close view on the bark of an oak tree. The bark is very consistent up the whole tree and is very when looked at from a distance it carries a wavy pattern. The snow that is melting into the bark of the tree also looks cool how it fills the gaps in between the bark. The technical challenges of this photo was lighting because when you move up close to the tree it gets darker. So in the editing process I made the tree bark brighter so that it could be the proper amount of light. The strongest part of this image is where the bark and the snow meets. It makes a cool mixing look like to paints mixing into each other. The weaker part of this image is how close the shot is you could see more pattern if the camera was backed off more.
This photo was taken with a macro lens. One day I saw the frost on my window one early morning and i thought that i would try and take a macro shot of the frost. The ice that had formed and looked really cool. Some technical challenges were getting the proper lighting. The sun was just rising so the sun was going directly through the window into the frost. So i had to adjust shutter speed. During the editing process I did some minor contrast and exposure adjustments. I also added a little more of a cool kelvin to the image to make it more blue and make the image look like it was taken in a real cold environment. The strongest part of this image is the sharp edges of the frost and how it goes in every direction. It kinda reminds my of a pine tree with needles that are going in many directions. The weakest part of this image is the sharpness of the frost I think that the frost could have had even more detail shown.
This image shows the bright colours of of plants and weeds that you can find in nature. The photo shows the dandy lion as a bright yellow vibrant weed. The greenery of the grass surround is also very healthy. The sun that shines down on it helps make the photo that much more happy. The technical challenges of this photo was first to find a dandy lion that was appropriate for the shot one that was full of colours and not dying. Also finding one were the sun hit at just the right angle.so i moved around different spot to take the picture until one was lit perfectly. In the editing process i made the yellows and green richer so that they really popped.the strongest part of this photo is the subject itself it stands out to its surrounding and is very complete with no flaws. The Weakest part of this image is the the dead grasses found in the mix of the healthy stuff. It would be better if everything in the photo was alive and healthy looking it would help add more color to the shot.
This image shows another type of pine needle. This upclose macro shows the needles of the pine tree being more rounded and not a pointy as the other ones. Technical challenges of this photo were getting the needle in focus right in the right spot. Making sure that you weren't capturing the needle in the background i like how the background needles are in the shot but aren't in focus. The strongest part of this image is the little bit of snow sitting on the branch and how it looks like its melting away like a warm spring day. The weakest part of this images is ow not all of the branch of pine needles that are in the foreground are in focus.
